Pi Pay, Cambodia’s leading cashless payment app and mobile e-wallet, has seen its early popularity continue and after only two months in operation has processed more than $5 million in digital transactions.

The popularity of the merchants who have already signed up to the system, and the ease with which Pi Pay allows users to pay for their purchases, has seen Pi Pay amass some 70,000 registered users since it first became available to the public, despite still being in beta testing.

“We are of course very proud of the number of people who have trusted Pi Pay enough to download our app, add money to their e-wallets and then most importantly use it at their favourite merchants,” explained Pi Pay CEO Tomas Pokorny.

“We are easily on track to top 200,000 registered users before the end of the year, and it is humbling to imagine this many people using our app. These successes are only the beginning for Pi Pay as we continue to grow, and we will have some very exciting announcements to make in the near future,” he added.

Such popularity amongst Cambodians has been possible due to the more than 250 merchant locations across the capital, offering Pi Pay users discounts of up to 50 percent on food, drinks, cinema tickets, haircuts, glasses, spa treatment, clothing, medicine and just about everything required by Phnom Penh residents.

With Pi Pay now firmly established in Phnom Penh’s business and financial community, further integration with such services as online shopping and mall-wide usability is on the horizon.

As Cambodia continues to embrace the benefits of a cashless life, Pi Pay is committed to ensuring the most reliable, convenient and relevant service to users and merchants.
