March 29: Mong Sien, 45, and his wife Pon Sambo, 46, were shot with an
AK-47 and seriously wounded at Trakeat village, Mesang district, Prey Veng. Police
said that their one-year-old daughter, Sien Sina, was shot dead in the attack. Police
say the assailants were robbers trying to steal a cow.
March 29: Leang Ra, 43, was shot dead at 7:50 am following a dispute in
Veal Vong commune, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, a car driver from Kunthea
International private school, was shot once in his right chest with an AK-47 by Un
Ty, 47. The criminal escaped.
March 30: Keo Srah, 12, was found floating in a pond in Thnol Cheat village,
Barai district, Kampong Thom. Police said the victim, a son of a couple, Keo Poeu
and Prak Sophal, was killed two days ago by kidnappers. The victim had been decapitated.
Police said they have two suspects in the case.
March 30: A 37-year-old policeman, Vy, was shot dead at 6:30 am while visiting
Khmer workers in Daun Khum village, Kom Reang district, Battambang. Police said the
victim, an official in the Khmer border police, was shot with an AK-47 by two workers
who became angry as they were being arrested for illegally crossing the border to
visit a brothel.
March 30: An unidentified man, died instantly following a motorbike accident
at 3:30 pm on National Road 3 in Phloeung Chhes Rotes village, Dongkor district.
Police said the victim, who was believed to be from Tram Khna commune, was hit by
a moto-remoke while leaving his house to pick up his wife from a garment factory.
March 30: A 65-year-old woman, Sem Sou, was found hanging in her house
located in Steung Tauch village, Ponhea Krek district, Kampong Cham. Police said
the victim, who is a poor farmer, possibly killed herself as he was having a long
battle with a terminal illness.
April 1: Heng Heang, 42, was shot and seriously wounded at 8:45 pm while
carrying fruit from Vietnam to Phnom Penh in a Nissan car. Police said the victim,
a fruit dealer, was shot once in her head while driving on street 370 in Boeng Keng
Kang 1 precinct. Two criminals escaped on a motorbike.
April 1: Kim Lon, 68, was found floating in the river at noon in front
of the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, who lived locally, was
drowned while stepping down to wash his hands and feet while returning from Psah
Thmei to buy food. The body was sent to Ounaloam pagoda to wait for cremation.
April 1: Yin Vanarith, 25, was seriously injured in an accident at midnight
while driving a car on National Road 6A, one kilometer from Chroy Changva bridge.
Police said the victim, a son of a Phnom Sampoeu restaurant owner, was drunk and
hit a house on the sidewalk while returning from drinking beer.
April 2: Khat Chheang, 28, a moto-taxi driver, was shot and seriously wounded
at 6:30 am while parking on street 134 in Mitapheap commune, Phnom Penh. Police said
the victim was shot in his left eye and neck by two robbers who stole his motorbike.
The victim was sent to Calmette hospital but he was expected to die later.
April 2: Chan Sreylo, 40, and her daughter Chan Mab, 20, were sent to Calmette
hospital after losing consciousness on National Road 2 in Chak Angre commune, outside
the city. Police said the victims fell off a pair of motorbikes driven by two men
who then tried to steal one of the victim's watchs.
April 3: One man was killed and another was seriously injured when a grenade
exploded at a home in Kampong Cham town. Police said the two Russian-made grenades
which were thrown into the home were actually aimed at a Karaoke club located next
door.
An Phun, 48, died instantly. Police said revenge was suspected for the motivation
for the killing.
April 3: Two people were killed and another was seriously injured when
a grenade exploded at 8:00 am in a tributary located in Boeng Khatom village, Ratanak
Mondul district, Battambang. Police said the victims, Kun Khloy, 14, and Thy Von,
29, died instantly after trying to defuse the grenade but they didn't know how to
do it.
April 4: Mieu Yim, 20, was stabbed to death at 8:30 pm while leaving a
house in Psah Kandal 1 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, a worker, from
Krasoam Ork village, Prey Veng, was stabbed twice in her throat with a knife by her
cousin Mieu Samey, 23. Samey became angry with the victim for having an affair with
her husband.
April 4: A 15-year-old girl, was rapped at 7:40 pm while sleeping on a
bed in her house located in Domnak Sangke village, Kandal Steung district, Kandal.
Police said the victim, who is now seriously ill, was rapped by Ron Reap, 22, when
her parents went to a pharmacy to buy medicines. The rapist was arrested later.
April 5: Chhai Kosal, 25, a gold seller, was robbed at 6:15 am while taking
jewelry out of her bag to prepare for selling at Doeum Traing market in Kandal Steung
district, Kandal. Police said the victim was held up at gun point by two unidentified
men on a motorbike. The robbers escaped with 30 damleung and $1,000.
April 5: Baing Sokleng, 17, was shot and seriously wounded at 5:40 pm while
driving with his girlfriend on a motorbike on street 118 in Psah Chas precinct. Police
said the victim, a student from Bak Touk high school in Phnom Penh, was shot with
a handgun by his two friends who became angry as he loved their girlfriend.
April 5: A 20-year-old girl, Srey Touch, was found dead at 4:40 pm at her
house in O'Russei 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim killed herself with
insecticide as she felt hopeless in her life after her boyfriend Chheng Lim, 28,
died recently. Lim was rumored to have died from AIDs.
April 6: Two robbers were shot dead at 7:30 am after stealing a motorbike
on street 47 in Chin Domdek precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the robbers were Nhor
Man, 35, and Huot Soeun, 37. They were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the
authorities. Three robbers were arrested after the incident.
April 6: Yuk Sopheap, 36, a gold seller, was robbed at 5:30 pm while riding
on a motorbike with her husband on street 360 in Boeng Keng Kang 3 precinct, Phnom
Penh. Police said the victims were knocked of their bike and held up at gun point
by three robbers on a motorbike. The robbers escaped with 50 damleung of gold.
April 7: Khiem Nan, 32, was robbed of his motorbike at 4:30 am while carrying
vegetables to a market in Khnop Domrey village, O'Raing Ov district, Kampong Cham.
Police said the victim, a farmer and a vegetable seller in his free time, was held
up at gun point by two robbers who made off with his motorbike.
April 7: Yem Sovanarith, 19, was shot and seriously wounded at 5:30 pm
while parking his motorbike to drink cane juice in Tonle Basac commune, Phnom Penh.
Police said the victim, a staff member from National Rehabilitation department, was
shot by two unidentified men on a motorbike. Huy Hoy, 40, a cyclo driver, was also
shot and seriously wounded while parking near the incident. Revenge was the suspected
motivation for the murder.
April 8: Chhai Malen, 32, was sent to Preah Kossamak hospital after suffering
acid burns on her face at 4:00 am in Toul Kook village, Russei Keo district, outside
the city. Police said the victim, who came from Kampong Thom province was attacked
by her husband, Prum Vuthy, 31.
April 8: A 21-year-old moto-taxi driver, Kep Thea, was chopped and seriously
injured at 6:00 pm while carrying travelers on Veng Sreng road in Chom Chao commune,
Dongkor district, outskirts. Police said the victim was tied up by the neck and chopped
with a big knife on his head by three travelers who stole his motorbike.
