The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Cambodia, in collaboration with the Fisheries Administration (FiA) and the US' Mississippi State University (MSU), organised a series of developmental workshops for five fisheries communities along the Sre Ambel River System. The events saw a total of 54 delegates participate.

According to a post on WCS Cambodia's Facebook page dated June 29, the primary agenda was the education and empowerment of these communities through citizen science. The initiative aimed to train community members in leading their own fish data collection and establishing a self-sufficient sustainable resource management system.

It said such workshops have been crucial in providing community members with the requisite skills for effective utilisation of the citizen science platform. The goal is to foster a sustainable long-term management of their fisheries resources.

They expressed growing enthusiasm for the project, which is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish in partnership with the MSU.
