The Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA), since its inception in 2012, has carried out thousands of humanitarian activities throughout the country, providing medical care to the public.

TYDA deputy chair of the board Pich Chanmony said that in the past decade, the association has treated nearly 350,000 people, including more than 6,000 severe cases that had been referred to Phnom Penh for treatment. Fifty-eight heart surgeries have been successfully performed, under the auspices of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany.

Chanmony shared the figures while addressing a September 4 ceremony announcing a new intake of 800 members.

She expressed her pride in TYDA’s achievements, saying that their participation in humanitarian activities has provided a second life to many of the Kingdom’s citizens and demonstrated the virtue of members.

TYDA is a mechanism that provides opportunities for its members to participate in voluntary medical work, thanks to collaboration with several partner organisations.

She took the opportunity to thank all of the members who had sacrificed their time, physical strength, knowledge, skills and experience to help the people. She also thanked all of the donors who have gifted the materials and equipment needed to carry out its mission.

TYDA, which has been growing for more than a decade, currently has a total of 8,000 members.
