Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Confederation of Unions, has asked Kandal Provincial Court to postpone his court date because he has yet to find a lawyer, a letter he sent the court obtained by the Post yesterday reveals.
The union leader was last week summonsed to court to respond to allegations he incited workers to strike at the Tai Yang and Camwell garment factories in Ang Snuol district and defamed management of Tai Yang Enterprises, which owns the two factories.
Only 40 people remain on strike, after more than 4,000 workers walked off the job in the early days of the dispute, which began in June over seniority bonuses.
