A camptain from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces was arrested yesterday after allegedly firing his weapon while drunk in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district on Tuesday morning. Ya Kim Y, deputy commander of the Municipal Military Police, said that Cheng Chhon fired two rounds from a K-59 pistol into the air along National Road 6 in Srah Chak commune. He added that, according to official military codes of conduct, a soldier or officer guilty of firing a weapon outside of their official duties was subject to at least three months in prison.
