Workers at the Y&W Garment factory met with staff from the National Employment Agency, who assisted them in finding new jobs. SHS
Issues have now been resolved for Y&W Garment workers, who were left without payment and compensation following the closure of their workplace.
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training announced in a March 20 notice that these workers can collect their salaries and seniority payments from March 23 at the Dangkor district hall in the capital.
The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has temporarily seized all assets and materials of Y&W Garment Co Ltd, ordering the company’s owner and co-creditors to pay over $3.295 million in fines.
The ministry explained that the successful bidder for these seized assets has allocated funds as per the required procedures, allowing the ministry to facilitate payment to the workers.
The individuals affected are advised to bring their work card, employment contract, work record, National Social Security Fund (NSSF) card and state-issued ID card to the payment venue. They are also encouraged to bring their monthly wage receipts, if available.
Following the factory's recent closure, the authorities have been assisting nearly 5,000 workers in finding new employment and have informed them about the benefits available through the NSSF.
