Minister of Civil Service Hun Many has announced the recruitment of 2,088 new civil servants, including 100 physical training and sports instructors. The physical education specialists will be deployed to secondary and high schools in 21 provinces.

Addressing a January 26 press conference on the recruitment of the physical raining instructors, Many explained that the process will be conducted in a transparent manner, with merit, fairness and inclusivity the guiding principles behind the new appointments.

“Prime Minister Hun Manet has ordered public administrative reforms and has spurred several key measures. One of these is to ensure that civil servant recruitment systems provide equal opportunities,” said Many.

“We aim to provide the instructors of physical education and sports with equal opportunities during the examination process,” he added.

Nat Bunroeun, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, also addressed the press conference, saying the recruitment of instructors at this time is to make up for shortages.

“The exam will be based on merit and fairness. We aim to develop human capital with knowledge, skills, excellent morals and health, and encourage society to recognise and value capable people. Those who are capable will pass the exam. Respecting these principles also brings honour to the individuals and their families, as well as our society and the nation as a whole,” he said.
