Pan Sorasak, elected secretary of the National Assembly’s infrastructure commission on September 5, said he was determined to work tirelessly to facilitate the success of each sector within the purview of the monitoring body.

Sorasak is overseeing the ninth of the National Assembly’s 10 specialised commissions.

The former Minister of Commerce is now the secretary of the Commission of Public Works, Transport, Telecommunication, Post, Industry, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

He was elected unanimously on September 5 by all 111 lawmakers in attendance.

Following the vote, Sorasak told The Post that as a lawmaker and secretary of the ninth commission, he will apply himself towards ensuring Cambodia achieves its goal of becoming a high-income nation by 2050.

“I will focus my efforts on furthering the strengthening of hard and soft organisational structures and mechanisms,” he said.

“I will monitor the performance of all government officials closely to ensure adherence to the Pentagonal Strategy.

“Laid out by the new government, it outlines a roadmap for turning Cambodia into an upper-middle income country by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050,” he said.

In his more than seven years at the commerce ministry, Sorasak said that he had strove to stimulate economic growth and develop new markets, while also promoting the digital economy, in line with the policies of the ninth commission.

The September 5 NA session also elected the secretaries and members of the other nine commissions, each of which consists of seven lawmakers, including the secretary.

NA president Khuon Sudary announced that each of the members of the seventh legislature’s commissions was elected unanimously.

NA president Sudary explained that as the meeting had come to an end, and the NA was yet to table any new agendas, the first session had been adjourned until further notice.

“We will inform you as soon we are scheduled to reconvene,” she said.
