Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron on March 17 presided over a consultative meeting under the Second Upper Secondary Education Sector Development Program (USESDP II), at western Kampong Cham province’s Hun Sen Skun High School.

At the meeting, with a title translating as “Working Mechanisms and Documents for the Implementation of Effective School Programmes”, Chuon Naron spoke highly of the overall progress made in the modernisation of high school curriculums, according to an education ministry statement issued later that day.

Key strong areas brought up by the minister were: capacity building among science teachers; ICT (information and communications technology) and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) implementation; vocational orientation that aligns with job market trends; and training in 21st-century skills.

The minister asked that schools, their teachers and management, and other stakeholders pull their weight to ensure that learning outcomes improve, particularly when it comes to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, proper conduct, virtues, and good morals seen as conducive to socio-economic development in Cambodia.
