In order to meet the water supply needs of people living in Sen Monorom town, authorities in Mondulkiri province are preparing to build another water pump station in O’ Spean village, Spean Meanchey commune. A landowner has agreed to donate land for its construction.

The provincial department of information said provincial deputy governor San Darith led Mondulkiri provincial authorities and officials on an August 11 inspection of the proposed location.

It added that Keo La has granted permission for the construction of a pump station on a 6m square plot of land.

Darith said he had received instructions from the provincial governor to conduct the inspection.

He added that currently, the Sen Monorom Water Supply Authority can provide more than 2,000 families with 2,000cu m of clean water per day. Although the location is a natural stream of the state, the upper part of the stream was privately and legally owned. For the consideration of the common good, the construction of the new pump station was agreed to by the owner.

Darith suggested that all the people living along the stream take care to protect the environment, reminding them not to litter or allow any toxic substances to enter the water source, in order avoid any risks to public health.
