The Ministry of Health on February 25 confirmed 65 new cases of Covid-19, with 58 linked to the February 20 community transmission.

The latest cluster cases include nine Vietnamese nationals, five Cambodians, one each from Korea, Singapore and Japan, with the rest being Chinese. This brings the total number of Cambodia's third community transmission to 194 in just five days.

The 58 people are receiving treatment at a quarantine centre designated by the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration.

In a press release, the ministry said the other seven are imported cases, six of whom are Chinese nationals staying in Preah Sihanouk province who tested positive while seeking required health certificates on February 23 to return to their home country.

The six are receiving treatment at the provincial referral hospital.

The seventh patient is a Cambodian UN peacekeeper who had returned to the country and stayed in Ratanakkiri province’s Kon Mom district.

In the press release, the ministry also noted that 12 of the 15 Chinese nationals whom it had been searching for after testing positive for Covid-19 in the early hours of February 24 -- and whose cases are linked to the community transmission -- have now been located and admitted to state-run hospitals in Phnom Penh.

The ministry’s working group is now on the lookout for the remaining three.

So far at least 63 sites have been found to be involved with the February 20 community transmission. The ministry urged anyone involved to come forward for Covid-19 test and to undergo quarantine.

As of February 25, Cambodia had recorded a total of 697 Covid-19 cases, with 217 receiving ongoing treatment.
