The Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation received more than $90,000 in donations for August – an increase compared to the same period in July. The foundation supports the renowned Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital branches in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

In a press release on September 14, the foundation said that in August they received $57,953 and over 142 million riel ($34,000) in donations from 4,151 donors.

In July, the foundation received more than $70,000 in donations – $59,365 and over 60 million riel from 3,969 donors.

Overall, donations have been down this year, partly due to the lack of tourism amid the pandemic as the foundation normally receives a portion of the proceeds from admissions to the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Donations can be made to Kantha Bopha through partner banks such as Canadia, ACLEDA, ABA, Chip Mong, Wing, Sathapana, J Trust and True Money or donated directly at the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation office located at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Chan Narith, Head of Secretariat of Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, told The Post that the proceeds from the donations are used solely for supporting the operations of the five Kantha Bopha hospitals.

“[Donations to] Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital will allow them to continue their main mission to provide quality medical examinations and treatment for children free of charge and with no discrimination,” he said.
