The owners of a Kampong Speu KTV karaoke parlour and a neighbouring guesthouse have been arrested for providing sexual services. During the Monday, May 19 raid, on the “Golden Dragon” karaoke parlour and the “Sok San” guesthouse, eight women – five of them underage – were determined to be sex workers.
According to the Kampong Speu Provincial Police Commissioner, the raid on the two premises, located in Thpong district’s Lor village of Prambei Mum commune, took place at 4pm. It was led by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office under the command of Colonel Ngin Sokunthea, deputy provincial police chief, and coordinated by deputy prosecutor Ren Norith of the provincial court.
The owners of the KTV, Khlaing Phearom, 35, and the guesthouse, Tonh Khley, 37, were arrested and have been referred to the provincial prosecutor for charging.
“During the operation, law enforcement officers rescued eight women. Among them, five were underage. Officers also confiscated two used condoms as evidence,” said the police.

The authorities referred the two men and the eight women to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office of the provincial police.
The five girls have been handed over to the provincial Department of Social Affairs, which will coordinate with partner organisations to provide further assistance and vocational training.
In August last year, police raided another Kampong Speu karaoke parlour, “Bopha Thmey” (New Flower), in Samrong Tong district. During the raid, officials identified more than ten underage sex workers.
