Japan is due to sign a financing package of up to 2.482 billion yen for an irrigation and drainage system project on April 10 at the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In an April 7 press release, the foreign ministry identified the project as the Southwest Phnom Penh Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (II).
Foreign minister Prak Sokhonn and Japanese ambassador Atsushi Ueno “will sign the Exchange of Notes and accompanying documents on the extension of a yen[-denominated] loan up to the amount of JPY 2,482,000,000 – approximately USD 18,240,000”, the ministry said.
“The [aforementioned] credit provision will contribute to further stepping up the Royal Government of Cambodia's ongoing socio-economic development endeavours, and solidifying the excellent relations and thriving across-the-board cooperation between the two countries,” it added.
