The Ministry of Inspection will sign a memorandum of understanding with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Cambodia, which will focus on good governance through a project to provide training and capacity building for officials, as well as technical assistance.
The agreement was reached during a November 29 working meeting between Huot Hak, Minister of Inspection and Alissar Chaker, UNDP country representative, according to an inspection ministry press release.
During the meeting, Hak expressed his thanks to the UNDP for the bilateral cooperation and assistance it has provided to Cambodia in the past and for its excellent cooperation in all aspects including energy, environment, demining, human rights, education and social affairs.
He added that he was particularly grateful for its support for poverty eradication, democratic leadership, the rule of law and the environment, as well as assisting Cambodia to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Chakar offered her thanks to the minister for allowing her and her colleagues, despite his tight schedule, to meet and report on their mission and the previous work of the UNDP.
“Both parties agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of good governance to begin cooperation between the two institutions. A working group of drawn from both parties will discuss the technical details in the near future,” the press release added.
The two sides also agreed to examine the possibility of providing training to strengthen and enhance the professional capacity of officials, as well as specialist assistance for the preparation of a draft law on inspection and other legal documents that the ministry is preparing.
The minister informed Shakar about the Kingdom’s current political situation, noting that it is good in all aspects including in political and socio-economic terms, thus creating an environment conducive to social development and foreign direct investment.
“The Pentagon strategy Phase-I set out by the new mandate government focuses on reforms and aims to strengthen governance and modernise state institutions so that public administration is competent and clean,” he said.
The minister also presented the ministry’s four action plans. They include institutional capacity building, the building and strengthening of human capital, the drafting of laws and regulations within the jurisdiction assigned to the ministry by the government, and the maintenance of a harmonious environment in the ministry and its national and sub-national level subordinate units.
