Se Chou Sithichot, deputy director of the Preah Sihanouk provincial health department, shared his recommendations to the general public to prevent diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases.
He said the appropriate way to avoid the diseases is consuming foods that are not too salty, sugary or fatty, along with regular exercise.
Sithichot gave his recommendation during the observation of World Diabetes Day on November 14, which was held in Preah Sihanouk province on November 25 under the theme “we prevent obesity and diabetes through changing our lifestyles.”
“Theme for the World Diabetes Day is that together we can prevent obesity and diabetes through lifestyle changes, changing behaviors and habits, especially by eating healthy foods and other individual ways to prevent the disease,” he said.
World Diabetes Day was initiated in 1991 by the International Diabetes Association to respond to the concerns regarding increasing health problems and the threats to the economy posed by diabetes. In 2006, the day was officially endorsed by the UN to educate the public on the prevention and treatment of the disease.
