The government is preparing a draft framework to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy, with the goal of supporting its success.

The seventh-mandate government launched the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy in August 2023. It aims to promote growth, employment, equity, efficiency and sustainability, and build the foundation for achieving Cambodia’s 2050 vision.

This vision defines a high-income, resilient and open economy which is competitive and inclusive, with people living in dignity and happiness, while receiving equal social protections with equal rights and equal opportunities.

The strategy aims to ensure economic growth of around 7 per cent per year, create more jobs in terms of both quantity and quality, reduce poverty below 10 per cent, continue to strengthen governance capacity and improve institutional quality, and ensure sustainable socio-economic development and build resilience to climate change.

Vongsey Vissoth, Minister in Charge of the Council of Ministers, addressed a July 22 consultation workshop on the draft framework.

He explained that discussions on the draft aim to gather input from stakeholders to ensure that the framework is comprehensive, practical and high-quality, and can be used to achieve the goals of the first phase of the strategy.

In August 2023, the government also established the committee, which is tasked with monitoring and evaluating the implementation of phase one.
