The South Korean Global Life Sharing Foundation (GLSF) has expressed its commitment to perpetuate humanitarian efforts in Cambodia during its second mission visit.
This sentiment was conveyed by Kim Jung Nam, president of the GLSF, in a meeting with senate president Say Chhum on July 7 at the Senate Palace.
Following their meeting, the Senate issued a press release in which Chhum warmly welcomed Jung Nam and acknowledged the foundation's successful completion of its second humanitarian mission in Cambodia.
"The humanitarian missions at this time are expected to yield excellent results, as well as strengthen and develop relationships and cooperation between our countries. This will be to the benefit of the people of both nations, both now and in the future," expressed Chhum.
He further recognised the thriving relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Korea across several sectors, including foreign policy, defence security, economy, trade, investment, arts, culture, education, and sports.
The press release disclosed details of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2022 between the Senate and the GLSF. The MoU, worth $5.6 million in aid, has been successfully implemented five times to assist Cambodia and its people. Jung Nam expressed optimism that the MoU's value will reach $10 million by 2024.
"Having seen the rapid results of this MoU, we will sign another three-year MoU, focusing mainly on health, education, and social work," Jung Nam added.
In response, Chhum highlighted the contributions of the Senate's 10th commission, which has provided relief to residents, hospitals, and local authorities in several Cambodian provinces. He affirmed that the foundation has indeed made a significant impact on improving the welfare of the Cambodian people.
