Malyta Heng has become a household name in Cambodia, not only for her role as a flight attendant but also for her diverse career as a movie star, dancer, singer and product model.

With a passion for both performing arts and the skies, she has uniquely balanced her multifaceted career.

Recently, Malyta passed rigorous testing and is preparing to join the prestigious Emirates Airline, marking a significant milestone in her journey.

Her story is one of resilience and dedication. Malyta began her career in the skies in 2018, working as a cabin crew member after winning the Sangkrant Angel contest.

Despite her full-time role as a domestic flight attendant, Malyta managed to juggle her artistic pursuits with ease, finding ways to continue her work as an actress, dancer and singer without interference.

“When I get a job as a flight attendant, it depends on my schedule. If it overlaps with my main job, I can’t get to work as an artist. But generally, film producers accommodate my timetable,” she shared.

However, as she prepares for her new role with Emirates, Malyta has made the difficult decision to take a break from the entertainment industry to dedicate herself to her role as a flight attendant.

The job’s demanding nature, with long international flights and irregular rest periods at different destinations, made it challenging to continue her artistic pursuits simultaneously.

Malyta’s decision to pursue a career in aviation was, in many ways, the opposite of her childhood dream.

Growing up, she was inspired by her mother, a dancer, and followed in her footsteps by exploring the world of acting, singing and dancing.

“Since I was young, I have always loved to have fun, dancing and acting. I didn’t go to dance classes like my mother, but I loved singing and dancing. I applied to Sangkrant Angel and passed the contest, beginning my training,” she explained.

Despite the two careers being worlds apart, Malyta has thrived as a cabin crew member.

Her communication skills, beauty and ability to work in a team have enabled her to excel in international aviation.

“I always like working in a team. I have experience in this field and good relationships with people around me,” Malyta told The Post.

“The two jobs are different in that one is performing as an artist, and the other is serving the guests face-to-face,” she detailed.

Joining Emirates, however, will be a whole new challenge.

While she has experience flying internationally, working on a five-star airline is a completely different ballgame.

“I thought it would be difficult because we had to deal with a lot of guests, the training was more difficult, and the people working with us were different every day, different nationalities,” she confessed.

Despite her nerves, Malyta is excited to represent her country on the global stage.

“When people hear that we are Cambodians and that we have worked on world-class aircraft, they know that we are the equals of any nation,” she said proudly.

Emirates has become a symbol of success for Malyta, and she’s eager to share her experience with young Cambodians.

“I’ve had dreams since I was little, both in art and working in the airline industry. But I never imagined that I would be able to do it on a five-star aircraft,” she said, encouraging others to pursue their dreams.

“Young Cambodian people, particularly women, must be confident, have self-belief, and not underestimate themselves. Keep trying, even if you fail,” she said.

Emirates is currently offering a rare opportunity to represent the Kingdom as cabin crew members for the world’s largest international airline.

The current recruitment drive sought passionate and dedicated individuals to join their team and work on one of the most globally renowned airlines.

Emirates will be hosting an invite-only recruitment day on May 7, for successful online applicants.

Candidates were encouraged to apply through the Emirates Group Careers website.

The airline explained that the ideal candidates were those who are passionate about delivering top-notch service, creating memorable moments for customers, and prioritising safety.

“As a key part of the Emirates family, cabin crew members will work with an international team, serving passengers on the airline’s modern fleet of wide-body aircraft, including the Boeing 777s and the iconic Airbus A380,” according to Emirates.

The airline offers extensive training at its state-of-the-art Dubai facilities, covering safety and emergency procedures, first aid and customer service training.

Emirates’ diverse network spans across six continents, providing exciting travel opportunities for its crew members.

The airline offers a competitive employment package, including tax-free salaries, free accommodation, transport to and from work, and generous medical coverage.

Crew members also enjoy exclusive discounts on shopping and leisure activities in Dubai, as well as concessional travel benefits for themselves and their families.

At present the airline’s global represents 148 nationalities. For the proud Cambodians who are looking to represent their country on the international stage, this could be the career of a lifetime.
