A man was killed and five other people were injured when two cars collided in a road accident on December 31 at 1:45pm on National Road 4 at milestones 78-79 in Trapeang Stok Krou village of Kampong Speu province’s Phnom Sruoch district.
Phnom Sruoch district police said that a driver and one passenger in a Hyundai traveling from west to east had collided with a Lexus 570. The Hyundai driver was unidentified.
The Lexus driver was named Keo Narith, 61, and a resident of O’Beichoan commune’s Tumnop Dach village in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet town.
The two vehicles collided head on while driving in opposite directions down the road. The driver of the Lexus, Narith, was killed instantly and his five passengers were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
The National Police said that from January 1 through December 31, 2021, a total of 2,670 road accidents occurred resulting in 1,497 deaths and 3,615 injuries.
