Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts at the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) have neutralized three “good shape and quality” bombs in three provinces over two days.
CMAC director general Heng Ratana posted on Facebook saying that three MK82 bombs dropped from airplanes and weighing more than 250 kg each have been found and neutralized in Kratie, Kampong Cham and Kandal provinces on March 8 and 9.
In Kratie, the bomb was found and destroyed in Kantuot village and commune of Chitr Borei district. In Kampong Cham, it was found in Bos Khnor Leu village of Bos Khnor commune in Chamkar Leu district. In Kandal, a bomb was found in Ang Metrei village of Lumhach commune in Ang Snuol district.
“Look at the quality of these bombs – they are between 50 and 60 years old, but still in good shape. During the war bombs were dropped everywhere across the country,” Ratana said.
