Cambodia, Vietnam sign gov't inspection MoU
Cambodia and Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of internal government inspections, in a ceremony held at the Office of Government Inspectorate of Vietnam on May 26.
The MoU was signed by Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspections Men Sam An and Vietnamese Central Party Committee member and head of the Government Inspectorate Doan Hong Phong.
Sam An said in a social media post that the agreement aims to allow the two countries' inspection bodies to gain experience from one another in addressing complaints and dealing with defamation lawsuits, as well as curbing corruption, abuse of power and inactivity by authorities.
She said 253 civil servants from her ministry had undergone two separate inspection training courses of between one and six months in Vietnam from 2006 to 2018.
At the MoU signing ceremony, she recalled the long history of cooperation between the inspection bodies of the two countries, saying their first MoU was signed in 2005, with additional agreements signed in 2012 and 2016.
Sam An is leading a senior ministry delegation on a three-day official visit to Vietnam from May 25-27.
