Ouch Borith – minister attached to the prime minister and permanent secretary of state for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – is slated to personally attend the High-Level Meeting to Commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the Serbian capital Belgrade.

In a press release on October 8, the ministry said Borith will deliver a statement on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Sen on October 11-12.

The meeting will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, who currently chairs NAM, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The meeting will reflect the commitment of member states in upholding the NAM's five main principles – mutual respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty; mutual non-aggression; mutual non-interference in domestic affairs; equality and mutual benefit; and peaceful co-existence.

The ministry said these five principles have always been contributing to the promotion of world peace and cooperation. Regional and international issues of common interest and concern are also expected to be raised.

“Ouch Borith’s remarks will focus on the importance of supporting the NAM five principles and commitment to the UN Charter, promotion of sustainable development and human right, the crucial roles of the NAM and the rule of law for small states, vaccine multilateralism amid the Covid-19 pandemic and recovery response efforts,” the statement said.
