Cambodia's food industry is making waves at the 2025 THAIFEX – Anuga Asia, one of the region’s influential food and beverage trade shows.

Taking place from May 27 to 31 in Thailand, the event has become a critical platform for food producers from across the region to showcase their products, form international partnerships and gain fresh insights into global market trends.

This year, Cambodia is taking a significant step onto the world stage with a strong presence at the show, which is set to feature more than 3,100 exhibitors from over 50 countries, spanning 9 F&B Trade Shows—Drinks, Fine Food, Food Technology, Frozen Food, Fruits & Vegetables, Meat, Rice, Seafood, and Sweets & Confectionery.

With 11 Cambodian companies participating this year, including those involved in the production of rice, beverages and dried fruits, Cambodia is proving that it is becoming an integral player in the global food and beverage supply chain.

These companies will showcase their diverse offerings, with an increasing focus on sustainable and organic products to meet growing global demand.

“We also see growing participation of Cambodians among our hosted buyers programme, with attendees such as LSH Cambodia and Thai Huot Trading this year,” said Mathias Kuepper, managing director and vice-president Asia-Pacific of Koelnmesse (KM).

“Their participation underscores Cambodia’s growing contribution to the global food and beverage industry, and we are delighted to provide a platform for them to showcase their offerings to international buyers in the region and beyond,” he added.

Kingdom’s sustainable approach to agriculture

One of the standout aspects of Cambodia’s participation at the event is the country's growing focus on sustainability.

Kuepper noted that Cambodian producers are aligning their practices with the increasing global demand for organic and eco-friendly food.

At THAIFEX – Anuga Asia, Cambodian food producers and rice exporters are focusing on sustainable and organic production, responding to rising consumer demand for eco-friendly products.

Cambodia is gaining recognition for its agricultural innovation and high-quality produce, with the event serving as a key platform for diversifying markets and forging global trade partnerships.

A prime example is Ibis Rice, a product that stands out not only for its high quality but also for its environmental mission.

Founded by the Wildlife Conservation Society, Ibis Rice is dedicated to protecting Cambodia's national bird, the critically endangered giant ibis, through sustainable farming methods.

“With many Cambodian communities making a living from farming, there is significant environmental pressure and there is a need to protect the wildlife while alleviating poverty among the communities,” Kuepper told The Post.

“This reflects a broader trend we’re seeing among Cambodian exhibitors — combining traditional agricultural strengths with a commitment to sustainability in preserving biodiversity and the community,” he continued.

This dedication to sustainability is helping Cambodian producers expand their customer base and build a positive global reputation.

Rice and other agricultural products on the global stage

Rice remains at the core of Cambodia’s agricultural exports. Cambodian rice producers have long been known for their commitment to quality, and their products are expected to garner attention at the exhibition.

Beyond rice, the Kingdom’s companies are also showcasing a growing range of tropical fruit, dried fruit and beverages that highlight the country’s rich agricultural biodiversity.

The participation of Cambodian exhibitors, such as Thai Huot Trading and LSH Cambodia, demonstrates the country’s ability to meet the needs of global consumers.

Innovative technologies

THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2025 serves as a hub for showcasing the latest trends in food innovation, including AI-powered product development.

Kuepper said AI Palette’s technology scans billions of consumer data points — from social, search retail and beyond — to detect emerging needs before they hit the mainstream.

GlobalData and AI Palette leverage data and AI to help brands tap into real-time consumer insights to bring products to market faster and smarter.

“Companies are using real-time intelligence and AI to create smarter, consumer-responsive products and that is where we see THAIFEX – Anuga Asia as the launchpad to showcase these ideas — from functional foods to ready-to-eat formats that reflect the needs of Asia Pacific’s rapidly shifting consumer landscape,” said Kuepper.

“This means faster launches, stronger relevance, and lower risk with less wastage,” he added.

Global food industry uniting

The exhibition is a global event that brings together thousands of exhibitors, hosted buyers and trade visitors from around the world.

“Over the years, we have seen great success from exhibitors and hosted buyers,” Kuepper told The Post.

“In 2024, we saw a total of $2.6 billion worth of deals made on-site, marking the stellar track record of THAIFEX – Anuga Asia,” he explained.

This year’s show will feature 3,233 exhibitors across 6,205 booths.

The event is expected to attract over 90,000 trade visitors from around the globe across five days. The projected value of immediate and within-one-year purchase orders is estimated to reach nearly $3 billion.

The trade show will not only provide a platform for business negotiations but will also offer valuable insights into global market trends.

“With the strong collaboration of both domestic and international partners — including the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Koelnmesse Germany — THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2025 will be more than just a trade show,” said Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, director-general, of the Thai commerce department’s Department of International Trade Promotion.
