Prince Norodom

Ranariddh has lost a court battle over the ownership of a colonial-era

mansion to the owners of the FCC, giving them permission to develop the

site, which they currently operate under the name Le Mansion. Phnom

Penh Municipal Court ruled Saturday that the house, located on

Sothearos Boulevard, would be leased to the company on a 99-year

contract. But Ranariddh's spokesman Chea Chanboribo disputed the

ruling, saying that Prime Minister Hun Sen certified the house as the

prince's property in a 2005 letter. "The Prince lost his case the same

way as many Cambodian people who have their land grabbed by the

powerful," he said.
