The labour minister has instructed the owners and directors of factories and manufacturing enterprises covered under the provisions of the labour law to complete the labour inspection process through the ministry's online self-declaration system twice a year, no later than June 30 or December 31.

In a May 27 notice, Minister of Labour and Vocation Training Ith Samheng stressed that there were 31 requirements to be fulfilled in the process, citing an earlier instruction letter, and warned that failure to do so could result in fines.

Samheng reminded those in charge of these enterprises to fulfil Covid-19 vaccination requirements – including working with local authorities to ensure staff members receive a booster jab – to ensure a safe and healthy environment in the workplace. A team will monitor data on the number of vaccinated employees.

Failure to complete the labour inspection process through the online system, or refusal to adhere to the requirements of the instruction may result in fines or other legal action, at the discretion of the ministry.

The system can be accessed at the Khmer-only website sicms.mlvt.gov.kh.
