A new initiative, called “WildLeaks”, is now online in Cambodia. It aims to help combat wildlife and natural resource crimes, to protect these valuable assets for future generations.

WildLeaks is a secure and anonymous reporting platform designed to enhance transparency and uphold the law, in support of wildlife and ecosystem conservation.

This innovative tool was developed and implemented by Earth League International (ELI), a US-based conservation organisation. According to a June 4 ELI press release, the new tool empowers individuals to confidently and confidentially report environmental crimes, thereby contributing to the long-term protection of the country’s rich biodiversity.

“Cambodia is home to several endangered and critically threatened species, such as the Asian elephant, pangolin and Siamese crocodile. However, illegal activities like poaching, wildlife trafficking and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources pose serious threats to these valuable ecosystems,” it added.

WildLeaks provides a safe and effective way for concerned citizens to share information about illegal activities that are damaging the environment.

By promoting greater transparency and accountability, WildLeaks supports Cambodia’s vision for a sustainable economy that benefits everyone. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to promote eco-tourism, sustainable livelihoods and community-led conservation.
