Police officers have arrested a Banteay Meanchey man who beheaded his 6-year-old nephew. The murder took place on the evening of June 16, in Kok Thom village, of Preah Netr Preah district’s Bosbov commune.
Local residents called the commune police station immediately after the incident, which took place at around 5.30pm. Officers promptly responded and arresting the suspect, who did not attempt to flee.
Police identified the suspect as Khim Kimchhak, a 31-year-old resident of the village.
According to police, Kimchhak confessed that his 6-year-old nephew had “insulted” him. In a fit of rage, he picked up a machete and chased the boy. He struck him once, severing his head from his body.
The suspect was taken to the Preah Netr Preah district police station.
Ream Mov, deputy police chief of Preah Netr Preah district, confirmed that the suspect was transferred to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
“Our officers were able to arrest the suspect immediately that night, shortly after the incident. He did not attempt to flee,” he said.
He declined to comment further on the case.
