The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has confirmed that Chinese State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi will be in Cambodia on a state visit from September 12-13.

Wang will pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister Hun Sen and have a working breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong.

The ministry said Wang will hold a bilateral meeting with foreign minister Prak Sokhonn, during which various aspects of bilateral cooperation will be discussed, such as the fight against Covid-19, trade and investment, education, security and national defence, and regional and international issues of common interest and concern.

Hun Sen and Wang will preside over the handover ceremony of the newly constructed Morodok Techo National Stadium in Prek Tasek commune of Phnom Penh's Chroy Changvar district, as Cambodia prepares to host the 2023 SEA Games.

“Prime Minister Hun Sen and His Excellency Wang Yi will also witness and preside over the signing ceremony on a number of important bilateral documents,” the ministry said.

“The official visit of His Excellency Wang Yi to Cambodia will further strengthen the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of cooperation between the two countries in the midst of current global challenges,” the ministry said.
