Siem Reap province is set to host a five-day local product exhibition, as part of the One Village One Product (OVOP) Movement, from September 26-30.

The event, taking place at the Royal Independence Gardens, will coincide with the celebrations of World Tourism Day 2023 and the 6th World Cleanup Day.

A September 22 announcement by the provincial administration noted that the event is a collaborative effort among several entities including the OVOP national committee, provincial administration and tourism department, Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), tourism operators and members of the private sector.

Celebrated under the theme “Tourism and Green Investment”, the event will feature a market and a parade.

The market aims to showcase local OVOP and other products. The procession is set to commence at the Royal Residence and Independence Gardens on the morning of September 27. The group will pass the Angkor Hotel, move along Sivutha Street and Achar Sva Road, before making its way back to the Royal Residence.

Keo Mom, president of the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA) and CEO of Ly Ly Food Industry Co Ltd, expressed her support for the initiative.

“Vendors are always happy because it is a time when we can show our products to customers,” Mom said, encouraging local producers of food and other consumer products to participate.

“I think enterprises or business owners who make local food or crafts should not overlook this exhibition; they should attend in large numbers,” she added while highlighting the importance of such functions, especially in provinces that are tourist destinations.

She noted that the day often attracts not only local but also international guests, providing substantial support to Cambodian products.
