In an effort to enhance Cambodia’s tourism sector and improve service standards, the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with agribusiness group Wilmar CLV, has announced a free bakery training course.

The initiative is tailored for professionals and aspiring individuals in the tourism and hospitality sectors, offering both in-person and online learning opportunities.

“The training programme is tailored for tourism employees, hospitality and travel staff, tour operators, members of the Cambodian Tourism Industry Association and students and young people interested in the industry,” according to the ministry's announcement.

The course will begin on October 11 and will run every Friday for 20 weeks, with both online and in-person training options available.

Participants can choose between two formats: In-person classes, limited to 20 students, will be held from 9-11am and 3-5pm, offering hands-on training under the guidance of professional bakers.

Alternatively, the online training, available to up to 100 participants, will be conducted at the same times as the physical classes, providing a flexible option for those unable to attend in person.

Admission requirements and registration

“To be eligible, participants must be at least 18 years old and are required to commit to regular attendance throughout the 20-week period,” said the announcement.

Interested individuals can register through the website www.tptd.org or by contacting the Department of Tourism Vocational Training at the ministry during working hours. For in-person classes, contact 078 899 919, and for online classes, contact 015 511 116.

The programme aims to develop a skilled workforce in the bakery sector, which is essential for improving service quality in the country’s rapidly growing tourism industry. Participants will be trained in a variety of bakery techniques, ranging from basic to advanced, which can be applied in cafes, restaurants and hotels nationwide.
