The first ever Cambodia public dictation contests dubbed “Angkor Writing” took place today on the western causeway of Angkor Wat temple, jointly organised by the government ministries, NGOs and partners.
 
The competition was opened by Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona.  Eight-hundred participants took place in the event, which allowed contestants of all ages. 

Local media BTV reported that nine-year-old twins and a woman nearly 60 years of age also joined the event.

Prizes for the competition include cash and stays at luxury hotels, among others. 

Some participants noted that they entered the contest not for the awards but to promote Khmer literature and cultural traditions.
