Sir Nick Faldo MBE – the six-time major champion and world-renowned golf course designer– received the warmest of receptions from the owners of Vattanac Group upon his arrival in Cambodia.
Both East and West Courses at Vattanac Golf Resort were designed by Sir Nick Faldo and have been exceptionally well received since opening in 2019 and 2020 respectively, earning a total of seven World Golf Awards and two Luxury Lifestyle Awards.
And a celebratory friendly tournament event was held to commemorate the involvement of the British golfing great in the creation of the Vattanac Golf Resort, one in which Sir Nick Faldo himself took part.
Members of the Cambodian royal family as well as esteemed political and business figures were present at the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon to inaugurate the event on November 18.
During his remarkable career, Sir Nick Faldo won six major championships, with three victories at The Masters and three at the British Open, making him one of the most successful golfers of all time. He occupied top spot in the world rankings for an incredible 97 consecutive weeks.
He amassed an impressive 41 professional victories on his illustrious golfing journey, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1997.
The Vattanac Golf Resort boasts two 18-hole courses meticulously crafted under the expert guidance of Sir Nick Faldo – the East and West Courses.
And the rapid growth of golf in Cambodia has led to plans for the construction of a 36-hole International PGA golf course in Sihanoukville.
The development will be situated in Sihanoukville New City and will offer picturesque views of the mountains and the sea.
Spearheaded by SNC Sihanoukville New City, the project is aimed at accommodating the anticipated increase in demand for golfing facilities in the coastal city in the coming years.
