The Oktoberfest, organised by German Business Cambodia (GBC), has become a signature event, offering unique German cultural and traditional experiences to Cambodian communities. It serves as an entertaining platform that celebrates the diverse Cambodian-German partnerships in a relaxed atmosphere.
GBC, a founding chapter of EuroCham Cambodia, has hosted the event since the early 2000s at venues such as Sunway Hotel, Hotel Cambodiana and in tents at Koh Pich. This year, the festival returns to Koh Pich’s Connexion Community Mall for the first time since 2018.
“The Oktoberfest was a highlight of Phnom Penh's event calendar for many years, but from 2018 we faced difficulties due to Covid-19 and a lack of manpower, sponsors and suitable venues. We are very glad to have now aligned with the successful concepts from Vietnam and Thailand, offering an all-inclusive package for entertainment, food, beer and soft drinks. This year marks the start of a new series of Oktoberfests in Cambodia, and we are excited to relaunch it in 2024," said GBC President Tassilo Brinzer.
“GBC looks forward to celebrating this joyous occasion and fostering the continued friendship between Cambodia and Germany," he added.
This year’s Oktoberfest promises an unforgettable experience for up to 1,000 guests, with Ozapft, a renowned 6-piece band from Germany and Austria, setting the festive tone. Popular from Oktoberfest events in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Bangkok, the band will bring the vibrant atmosphere of Bavaria to the heart of Cambodia.
Guests will also enjoy a variety of delicious foods prepared by our partners, Hops Restaurants and Hummus House, offering both traditional and modern German specialties, a BBQ and an unlimited buffet featuring international and Mediterranean delicacies.
Oktoberfest Cambodia 2024’s beer partner is Cambrew Ltd, featuring key brands such as Carlsberg, Angkor Beer, Singha, 1664 Blanc and Black Panther, along with a selection of soft drinks to cater to all preferences.
Each guest will also receive an authentic German beer stein as a keepsake. Wines and select spirits will be available for an additional cost. The local business community is supporting the event, with sponsors including Auskhmer, Celliers d’Asie, DHL, Rhenus, Rieckermann, Hellmann and Würth joining the celebration.
BMW Motorrad Club Cambodia is also a key partner of the event. Its president, Oum Bunreth, has been travelling on his BMW GS 1250 from Munich to Cambodia since July 7, passing through 23 countries.
Although Bunreth was expected to arrive at Oktoberfest Cambodia on October 26, he has been delayed due to engine trouble in Bulgaria. However, he will greet the crowd via a video message, likely from China. Both Bunreth and Oktoberfest are raising funds for Cambodia’s Kantha Bopha Foundation.
German ambassador to Cambodia Stefan Messerer officially opens Oktoberfest Cambodia 2024 on Friday, October 25 at 7pm. Many Cambodian celebrities and VIPs are expected to attend the event, which has earned the title of “The Biggest Party of the Year”.
Oktoberfest Cambodia 2024 will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 at the ground floor of Connexion Community Mall in Koh Pich, Phnom Penh. The event runs from 6-11pm. Entrance tickets cost $52 at the door, with group discounts available.
Visitors can look forward to partying with the six-piece German and Austrian band, Ozapft, while enjoying free-flow food options, including BBQ, Steckerlfisch and vegetarian selections.
A free-flow drinks menu will also be available, featuring five beers, cider and soft drinks. Each guest will receive a complimentary "Oktoberfest Cambodia" German beer stein. After the main event, guests can continue the celebration at the after-party at Chew & Bash Club, conveniently within walking distance from Connexion.
