On June 1st, Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh, sister school of one of Britain's nine ‘great’ public schools, held their first Founding Day on the lawn near its new campus at Morgan EmMaison, Phnom Penh.
British Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Dominic Williams and H.E. Dr. Hangchuon Naron, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport delivered speeches, demonstrating the recognition and support from the British and Cambodian governments for the growing Shrewsbury school.
Influential individuals from various sectors of Cambodian society, including parents of Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh, totaling more than 150 attendees, participated in the celebration, applauding the performances of the school children and touring the new campus which provides for primary and early years education.

British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, expressed his delight at witnessing the flourishing development of Shrewsbury education Cambodia and acknowledged the children of Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh will enjoy a high-standard of educational provision from the campus, teachers and school standards.
H.E. Dr. Hangchuon Naron, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport, stated that parents in Cambodia no longer need to send their children abroad to enjoy high-quality British education in Phnom Penh, and echoed that the new Shrewsbury school provides every child with the best opportunities for holistic development, emphasising that the early stages of life are a golden period for learning. The ceremony also served as the school's first annual prize-giving ceremony, in which six students received the Principal’s Salopian Virtues Award, presented by the Principal Toby Waterson and congratulated by H.E. Dr. Hangchuon Naron.
Founding Principal Toby Waterson of Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh then presented Recognition Certificates to each child thriving at the SISPP in a process that highlights the school’s commitment to championing the individual.
The Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh campus at Morgan EnMaison will officially open on September 2, 2024, boasting the most beautiful riverside views in all of Phnom Penh. This riverside location inherits the traditions and characteristics of its British counterpart and sister school in Bangkok, Thailand.
