Friendship Orchestral Concerts mark 70th anniversary of Japan-Cambodia ties
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Japanese-Cambodian relations, the Embassy of Japan held a series of Friendship Orchestral Concerts in the capital over the weekend of September 15-17.
Performed by the Worldship Orchestra, the first concert was held at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh on September 15.
The opening Japan-Cambodia 70th Anniversary Friendship Orchestral Concert was presided over by National Assembly President H.E. Khuon Sudary and Japanese Ambassador Ueno Atsushi, with many other top-ranking officials and national and international guests in attendance.
“This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia.
"For the past 70 years, the countries' bilateral relations have developed under mutual trust through cooperation in the process of finding peace, rebuilding and the socio-economic development of Cambodia.
"Today, we are pleased to invite Japan's Worldship Orchestra to Cambodia to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries," said Ambassador Ueno at the first concert.
After the exhilarating opener, a second performance was held on September 16 at AEON Sen Sok City, with the Worldship Orchestra taking a final bow on September 17 at AEON Mean Chey.
