A.V.R (Asia Vehicle Rental) Co., Ltd, Cambodia’s leading car and equipment rental company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with WOWNOW Taxi –ride-hailing service, for EV taxi as a sustainable transportation option in Cambodia.
Under the terms of the MOU, Avis Cambodia by AVR will be the preferred fleet lease service provider for WowNow Taxi. The fleet will be provided along maintenance, repair, insurance, accident management and 24/7 roadside assistance to ensure that the vehicles remain in optimal condition, delivering a seamless and safe experience for WowNow users.
Mr. Ngorn Saing, CEO of AVR and RMA Cambodia, remarked on the company’s significant step.
“AVR has been a prominent player in the Cambodian market since 2010. In 2014, AVR became the official licensee of Avis, a globally recognized car rental company. Avis Cambodia offers a range of car rental services characterized by high safety standards, convenience and personalised service.
In a move to enhance green mobility solutions in Cambodia, WowNow Taxi signed a lease agreement for 100 units from Avis Cambodia in March 2025. Today, we signed an agreement for an additional 100 units.
The 200 fleet vehicles are expected to be on the road by the end of July this year. The specific electric vehicle brand, Changan Eado EV460, will be imported by Changan Cambodia for this project. Over the past three years, Changan has operated in Cambodia, establishing a strong reputation for the excellent performance of its vehicles, which has earned the trust and confidence of our customers. We strongly believe that the collaboration can provide sustainable and efficient mobility solutions for users,” he said.
Through the interview, Mr. Kevin Zheng, General Manager of WowNow Cambodia emphasised the future of EV’s transportation solutions.
“WOWNOW Taxi is embracing the global shift towards EV mobility, highlighting three key advantages in Cambodia: low cost, reduced carbon emissions and enhanced comfort. We have formed a strategic partnership with EV ENERGY, a leading charging station operator in Cambodia, to build 6-8 charging stations in Phnom Penh. Beyond environmental benefits, WOWNOW Taxi aims to create a significant over 6,000 jobs, with a focus on empowering women and vulnerable groups; plus, technological empowerment through the introduction of China's industry models and AI algorithms to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs. WOWNOW Taxi plans to capture over 20% of the Cambodian market in the short term and aims to become the leading online local service platform in 2025. We also plan to expand EV mobility services to others Southeast Asian countries by the second half of 2025,” he explained.
The MOU marks an important step in the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Cambodia in line with the national policy of promoting clean transportation and reducing carbon emissions. Both companies are dedicated to providing high-quality, environmentally friendly mobility options, and this collaboration clearly shows the shared vision for a greener future.
