Manulife Cambodia, the Kingdom’s first international life insurer, has received a “Top Workplaces in Asia” award at the prestigious Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards 2020.

This marks the second consecutive year the company has been recognised by the international awards programme after winning a “Top Community Care Companies in Asia” award last year.

The “Top Workplaces” award recognises companies that take a people-centric approach and demonstrate strong commitment towards employee empowerment and enrichment.

Manulife Cambodia is one of only six companies in Asia – and the only one from Cambodia – to receive the accolade in 2020.

“Manulife’s mission is to help make decisions easier and lives better for people, including our employees,” said Justin Helferich, Manulife Cambodia CEO and general manager.

“We are honoured to receive this prestigious recognition for our efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive workplace, in which all employees are inspired to bring their authentic and whole selves to work.

“We will continue to support our employees so that they can thrive personally and professionally, and best serve our customers, business partners and communities.”

Shanggari Balakrishnan, the CEO of MORS Group, which organises the ACES Awards, said: “Manulife Cambodia actively listens to feedback from employees, analyses staff engagement and provides competitive compensations and rewards. This approach reinforces the importance of the life insurance company’s values.”

Dr Jayanthi Desan, a member of the ACES Awards jury, praised Manulife Cambodia’s “focus on equality in the workplace” and its “efforts to ensure employees are cared for across the spectrum”.

Over the past eight years, Manulife Cambodia has received a number of awards and recognitions locally and internationally. These include:

• Customer Engagement Programme of the Year 2017-2019 (Hong Kong);
• Best Corporate Brand of the Year 2018-2019 (Hong Kong);
• Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership of the Year 2017-2019 (Hong Kong);
• Best Employer Brand Award 2019-2020 (Thailand);
• Road Safety Certificate of Recognition from National Road Safety Committee 2018–2020 (Cambodia).

As a strongly people-centric business, Manulife Cambodia has continued to invest in its people since opening in 2012. It supports its talented workforce with ongoing professional education, health and wellness benefits, and programmes that reinforce its inclusive culture, such as unconscious bias training.

It also seeks to enhance the overall employee experience with the adoption of digital technologies that foster innovation, productivity and community connection.
