Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina, has reiterated his calls for ministry officials to pay close attention to production and value chains in their individual subsectors, with a focus on the economic potential of each province.

He told them to set clear goals and define their vision to create economic sustainability within their own areas of expertise.

In addition, he insisted that officials prepare production plans, with a focus on high-quality produce which will meet the demands of all markets, both domestic and international.

The minister chaired a May 31 meeting to discuss the overall outlook of the Kingdom’s agricultural sector, said a ministry social media post.

During the meeting, he also advised his staff to take a close look at the potential of each province by comparing economic efficiency and boosting production, as this will help to guarantee food security and safety, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability.

On the same day, Tina advised the Forestry Administration to focus on ensuring the success of this month’s 26th meeting of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Forestry, which the ministry will host.

He reminded them that they must place the national interest first and devise ways and means of carrying out forestry work in effective and sustainable ways, in line with ASEAN mechanisms.
