RAFFLES Montessori-Singapore signed an agreement with SDN Business Group (Cambodia) to open a Montessori school in Phnom Penh this June.

SDN Director Sok Sambath said many primary schools operate in the Kingdom, though many often lacked quality.

“We looked at six international schools in Singapore, but the one Montessori school had the best education system. We will bring high quality education to the Cambodian people,” he said.

He declined to discuss the size or terms of the investment.

Raffles Montessori-Singapore representative Khng Thlan Huat said the level of Cambodian education was improving from year to year.

“We found there’s strong potential in the Cambodian education system – that’s why we decided to come here.”

The school aims to target a high-level niche, he said, adding the school planned to be doing business for a long time.

The school is located on street 57 at the corner of street 294 in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district.
