In a landmark initiative aimed at supporting Cambodian nationals preparing to live, work or study in South Korea, PPCBank has partnered with LG U+, a major South Korean telecommunications company, to provide a comprehensive support package that includes free SIM cards and customised financial services. This partnership reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to easing the transition for Cambodians abroad by enhancing financial readiness and communication access.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on April 24 by Mr. Lee Jin Young, President of PPCBank, and Mr. Park Sung Soon, Head Manager of LG U+, at PPCBank’s Head Office.

Through this partnership, Cambodian workers and students travelling to South Korea can stay connected with their families and loved ones from the moment they arrive. They will receive free LG U+ SIM cards preloaded with essential data and voice packages, ensuring seamless communication and internet access without the hassle of complicated registration processes or the burden of costly roaming fees.

In addition to telecommunications support, PPCBank will also offer a suite of financial services tailored to the unique needs of Cambodian workers and students abroad. These include loan products and remittance solutions designed to provide greater financial flexibility.

As part of the initiative, PPCBank has streamlined its loan application process through its mobile application for individuals who have passed the Korean language proficiency test. These loans come with competitive interest rates and are aimed at reducing financial barriers for those pursuing international opportunities.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Lee Jin Young, President of PPCBank, said, “With thousands of Cambodians heading to South Korea every year, we understand the importance of staying connected but we also recognise the financial challenges that come with living abroad. That’s why this partnership goes beyond telecommunications. It combines affordable connectivity with financial empowerment, helping Cambodians build a secure and connected future for themselves and their families.”

This MoU represents a new level of cross-border cooperation and a shared commitment to helping Cambodians thrive abroad — whether they are entering the Korean workforce or pursuing higher education,” he added.

Mr. Park Sung Soon, Head Manager of LG U+, said, “Our mission is to empower diverse communities through accessible and affordable communication solutions. Partnering with PPCBank allows us to support individuals at the very beginning of their journey in South Korea.

The free SIM cards will be distributed through PPCBank branches nationwide and will be activated and ready for immediate use upon arrival in South Korea, enabling instant communication with loved ones back home.
