Cambodia is developing a range of tour packages to the Morodok Techo National Stadium to encourage internal tourism and demonstrate that the Kingdom is ready to host the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The Ministry of Tourism on June 23 said the packages, organised in collaboration with the stadium’s Management Department, come following a recommendation from Prime Minister Hun Sen, who commented that “tourism forges links across the land”.

Also including stops to nearby attractions such as the Win-Win Monument, Phnom Penh Safari Zoo, Garden City Water Park and Golden City Gold Club, the tours aim to offer travellers a better understanding of the capital’s tourism products and a glimpse into its latest achievements.

Different options are available, focusing on areas such as sports events, family entertainment, or education.

The ministry has also prepared an easy-to-follow guidebook on the five-storey stadium for visitors, explaining the ins and outs of the facility, including a construction timeline, an outline of its 18 main attractions as well as the standard operating procedure, code of conduct, and other instructions, and descriptions of nearby areas of interest.

Built with a grant from China and launched last August, the stadium is 82,400sqm and sits on a 16.22ha plot within the 85ha Morodok Techo National Sports Complex.

With 60,000 seats, it is capable of hosting major national and world sport events, and can accommodate 20,000 more visitors outside the main facility for arts and cultural performances or other events.
