Since 2010, Metfone has been the official and longest-standing sponsor of the Cambodian Premier League. With a fixed annual sponsorship of $500,000, Metfone’s total investment in Cambodian football has reached $8 million after 16 continuous years of support. This is not just financial assistance, but a long-term commitment from a business to the sustainable development of national sports.

On May 26, the Cambodian Premier League officially concluded the 2024–2025 season with an awards ceremony honouring individuals and teams with outstanding achievements. This was a season of comprehensive success, with numerous improvements in professional quality, a sharp increase in audiences both in stadiums and via broadcast, and the emergence of many promising young talents.

At the event, Deputy General Director Nhan Dinthon had the honour of representing Metfone in receiving a certificate of recognition from the organisers. This recognition affirms Metfone’s 16-year journey of unwavering support and contribution to the sustainable development of Cambodian football. From its very founding, Metfone has defined its role not only as a telecommunications provider but also as a partner in social development – with sports, especially football, as a strategic priority.

Beyond its role as a sponsor, Metfone has worked closely with the Football Federation of Cambodia to promote the league’s image, support communications and connect with the fan community. Thanks to this enduring partnership, football in Cambodia has become increasingly accessible to the public, serving as a cultural bridge, a source of hope and a reflection of the aspirations of the younger generation.

In recent years, Cambodian football has made remarkable progress. School football has developed strongly, grassroots tournaments have expanded widely, and these efforts have created a solid foundation for youth training systems. As a result, professional clubs have begun to invest more seriously in youth development, building structured recruitment and training systems.

The Cambodian Premier League has also undergone continuous positive transformation – from professional organisation and heightened competitiveness to significantly improved technical quality. Notably, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC, the league champion for two consecutive seasons, achieved an impressive runner-up finish at the 2024–2025 AFC Challenge League, leaving a strong mark for Cambodian club football on the Asian map. At the same time, the national team has also made steady progress, with a more modern playing style and a spirited fighting spirit that continues to earn the trust and support of fans. All of this points to a football ecosystem that is maturing and moving forward with clear direction.

On this path of growth, Metfone has consistently stood side by side with the Football Federation of Cambodia to foster the holistic development of the nation's football – from sponsoring the professional league and supporting youth talent development programs to promoting the national football image. The financial stability provided by sponsors like Metfone is a key foundation that helps the league sustain its appeal, improve professional standards and gradually align with regional and international benchmarks.

In 2025, Metfone marks its 16th anniversary – which also represents 16 years of accompanying the league. Through uninterrupted support across all seasons, the image of Metfone and the Cambodian Premier League have become intertwined – a symbol of sustainability, unity and shared development. From pitchside advertising boards and live broadcast channels to the glorious moments of the clubs – Metfone has always been an inseparable part of the league.
