Cambodia’s paddy and milled rice production generated $932.27 million in national revenue during the first four months of 2025, marking an increase of almost 10% on the same period last year. Paddy accounted for over $723 million, while milled rice contributed nearly $210 million, according to the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).

A CRF report states that the amount earned from paddy and rice exports in the first third of the year was 7.95% higher than Jan-April 2024, when $863.61 million was recorded.

According to the CRF, during the first four months of 2025, Cambodian milled rice was exported to 59 destinations by 48 companies.

The total export volume was 282,315 tonnes — a 13.61% increase compared to 248,491 tons in the same period of 2024.

Almost half of milled rice exports went to Europe, at 134,212 tonnes, while China took 70,435 tonnes, ASEAN 40,291 tonnes, and 26 other countries (including Africa and the Middle East) purchasing the remainder.

Paddy exports reached 3,031,431 tonnes, up 25.3% over the same period last year. Most of Cambodia’s paddy was sold to Vietnam and Thailand, where there are more storage facilities, capital circulation and milling machines.

Lun Yeng, CRF secretary-general, noted that the export performance of rice in Q1 was better than during the same period last year. He also highlighted that how the government is pushing for funding support to increase the capacity of rice mills in the Kingdom to accept and  process more paddy.

According to CRF data on rice varieties exported during early 2025, fragrant rice accounted for 77.94%, white rice 17.15%, parboiled rice 2.47%, organic rice: 1.95% and “other” 0.49%.
