Jin Liqun, president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Cambodia in several sectors, noting that he has confidence that the Kingdom’s economy will continue to grow resiliently and sustainably.

He met with Prime Minister Hun Manet on May 29, as part of the prime minister’s official working visit to Tokyo, Japan, from May 28–31.

During the meeting, Liqun praised Cambodia’s rapid development and reaffirmed his strong belief that Cambodia’s economy will continue to experience resilient and robust growth. To contribute to Cambodia’s economic advancement, AIIB is actively seeking opportunities to expand cooperation in key sectors such as energy, urban and municipal development, and connectivity infrastructure.

“AIIB is fully prepared to collaborate with Cambodia in these sectors — especially in infrastructure — to support the government’s efforts toward resilient and sustainable development,” he said.

Manet expressed his pleasure at meeting with the AIIB leadership once again and welcomed the bank’s interest in exploring potential cooperation opportunities in Cambodia.

He emphasised that the Cambodian government remains open and is actively seeking partnerships with all stakeholders to contribute to the country’s social and economic development — particularly in line with its long-term goals.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to achieving new accomplishments for the nation and its people, while ensuring economic growth that is resilient, inclusive and sustainable,” he said.

“I encourage AIIB to deepen its engagement and hold detailed discussions with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening and expanding cooperation,” he added.
