A total of 26 electricity energy sector investment projects, funded by 24 investment companies, have received approval from Cambodia’s National Assembly Standing Committee for government payment guarantees.
A press release on the outcome of the committee’s April 22 meeting confirmed their approval.
According to The Post’s calculations, the approved electricity energy investment projects have a combined electricity production capacity of 5,950 megawatts.
Most of these projects are located in the provinces of Pursat, Mondulkiri, Kampong Chhnang, Prey Veng, Battambang, Preah Sihanouk, Stung Treng, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Koh Kong and Ratanakiri.
They include solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,950 megawatts, wind power at 900 megawatts, pumped-storage hydroelectric stations at 1,000 megawatts, battery storage systems at 1,000 megawatts, hydroelectric at 110 megawatts, biomass at 50 megawatts and natural gas at 900 megawatts.
Following this approval, the standing committee instructed the relevant ministries and government institutions to report back on the payment outcomes.
