In the first seven months of 2024, Cambodia exported goods worth more than $5.5 billion to the US, marking a 6.4% increase over the same period in 2023, while exports to China reached $975 million, up 19.7%, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE).
From January to July, Cambodia imported about $154 million worth of goods from the US, up 8.9% year-on-year, while imports from China were worth about $7.7 billion, up 23.4%.
Bilateral trade between Cambodia and China during the period amounted to more than $8.7 billion, an increase of 23% compared to the same interval last year, while total trade volume between Cambodia and the US increased to more than $5.6 billion, an increase of 6.5%.
Cambodia’s exports to other countries reached over $14 billion for the period, up 14% year-on-year.
Exports to Vietnam during the period totaled more than $2.2 billion, up 37.7%, while imports amounted to over $2.4 billion, an increase of 12.9% from the same period in 2023. Trade volume between the two countries stood at $4.6 billion, up 23.5%.
Exports to Thailand during the interval amounted to more than $499 million, down 6.4% from the same period in 2023, while imports amounted to $1.9 billion, up 13.4%. Total trade volume between the two countries was $2.4 billion, up 8.6% year-on-year.
From January to July, the country’s highest exports were apparel and clothing accessories categorised under Harmonised System (HS) Codes 61 and 62 (knitted and non-knitted), reaching $3.4 billion (up 14.1%) and $1.8 billion (up 29.5%) respectively from the same period last year.
