Within the period from 1994 to October 2022, 199 companies set up investment projects in Preah Sihanouk province, with 84 companies in the tourism sector and 33 focused on the islands and beaches.

While meeting with the Austrian Doppelmayr Group’s manager Martin Ladner, Preah Sihanouk provincial deputy governor Em Pheap said on November 24 that the province currently had small-scale tourism investment projects and had received permission from the Ministry of Environment to invest in 81 projects, 41 of which were underway and 40 others were being studied.

He added that the province hosts the model Multi-Purpose Special Economic Zone and the provincial administration wanted more companies to invest in tourism in the province and thanked Ladner for his group’s investment in the cable ride baskets in the Koh Rong area.

Martin Ladner thanked the provincial administration for agreeing to meet with the Doppelmayr Group as they had just entered Cambodia to study an investment opportunity to fund recreational activities and tourism-related activities in the province.

He said that Doppelmayr Group is the leading company invested in many kinds of cable ride basket projects around the world and that the company has developed cable ride basket attractions and systems in 50 countries, often in mountainous areas but also for urban transport and industrial uses.
