Nearly 400,000 foreign tourists purchased tickets to the Angkor Archaeological Park in the first quarter of 2025, helping Angkor Enterprise generate nearly $19 million in revenue, an increase of over 13% compared to the first quarter of 2024. Revenue from ticket sales at other locations amounted to over one million dollars.
An April 2 press release from the enterprise reported that from January to March, 398,531 foreign tourists purchased tickets to visit the Angkor archaeological site, a 14.67% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Revenue from these ticket sales totalled $18.72 million, an increase of 13.22%.
In addition to Angkor tickets, the enterprise earned an additional $1.08 million from foreign tourists purchasing tickets to visit Koh Ker Temple, Beng Mealea Temple, Phnom Kbal Spean and boat tickets at the Chong Kneas Port, in Siem Reap province.
Angkor Enterprise, a public administrative body, was established in 2016. It operates under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and the financial supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Ticket prices for the park are $37 per person for one day, $62 for three days and $72 for seven days.
Khiev Thy, president of the Angkor Tourist Guides Association, told The Post on April 3 that during the high season – from October 2024 to early April 2025 – the number of foreign tourists visiting Siem Reap’s temples and heritage sites has significantly increased compared to previous years.
He noted, however, that the numbers have not yet returned to pre-2020 levels, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This high season, the number of foreign tourists in Siem Reap has been higher than last year. However, since March, the number of foreign tourists has started to decline continuously, as the low season approaches,” he added.
Ly Se, director-general of Angkor Enterprise, predicted in early 2025 that ticket purchases to Angkor this year would be 25-30 per cent higher than 2024.
To make the purchase of day passes more convenient, the enterprise recently introduced automated vending machines.
The machines are located in three locations: Angkor Enterprise (the current ticket sales location), the Angkor Wat Pavilion and the Heritage Walk Market.
Foreign guests are still required to purchase three- and seven-day passes at the enterprise’s main sales centre.
In 2024, 1.02 million foreign tourists purchased tickets to visit the Angkor site, an increase of 28 per cent over 2023. Revenue reached almost $48 million.
